Phone may be hacked: warning signs and next steps

Unknown apps, pop-ups, linked devices or unusual account messages can be warning signs.

3 min read

Not every strange phone problem means hacking. Battery age, software bugs and storage problems can cause many symptoms. But linked devices, unknown profiles, unusual sign-in alerts and banking concerns should be treated seriously.

  • Check for unknown apps, VPNs or profiles.
  • Review WhatsApp linked devices.
  • Check Apple ID or Google account devices.
  • Update the phone and important apps.
  • Change important passwords from a trusted device.
  • Contact your bank if money or card details may be involved.
