MagSafe generations are checked separately; a similar magnetic connector is not a compatibility guarantee.

Surface repair support →For fixed-output laptop adapters, the specified voltage and polarity must match the device, with adequate current and power capacity. Do not choose a replacement solely by the wattage printed on its case.
Barrel tips can differ in outer diameter, inner diameter and centre-pin design. Some laptops also use adapter identification. A plug fitting into the socket does not establish that the charger is suitable.
The laptop, charger and cable must support a suitable charging arrangement. USB-C is a connector shape, not a promise of a particular charging speed. The exact device requirements come first.
We confirm the device cable, adapter and suitable Irish/UK mains lead or plug included in the quote. A damaged or unsuitable cable can cause charging problems even with a correct power adapter.
An original charger is described separately from an OEM-manufacturer or compatible replacement option. We confirm the actual component description, whether it is new, used or refurbished, and the applicable warranty before purchase.

Stop using an adapter or cable with exposed wires, melted plastic, signs of liquid damage or a burning smell. Do not open a mains power adapter.

Send the full laptop model, a clear photo of the old adapter label and a photo of the charging connector. For a MacBook, include its model or year and whether the connection is USB-C or MagSafe. Do not send account passwords.
For a compatible USB-C Power Delivery setup, the laptop negotiates a supported power level; a higher advertised wattage does not force that full power into it. Compatibility of the device, adapter output profiles and cable still matters. This does not make arbitrary barrel-plug adapters interchangeable.

Yes. The cable must support the power required by the adapter and device. A cable that fits is not necessarily suitable for that charging setup. We check the cable as well as the adapter when matching a replacement.

They are different connection generations. Apple describes a converter from an older MagSafe adapter to MagSafe 2, but that converter is not compatible with MagSafe 3. We match the charging connection to your MacBook model.
